Butler Adds Two Coaches to 2026 Football Staff

| By:
INDIANAPOLIS - Head Football Coach Kevin Lynch has announced the hiring of Jordan Grimes and Sam Costantino to the 2026 coaching staff. Grimes and Costantino bring a plethora of experience and knowledge to the program.

"I'm excited to welcome Sam and Jordan to the staff," said Head Coach Kevin Lynch. "Both bring great energy and enthusiasm to the program and will be great additions to the Bulldog family. They stood out throughout the hiring process with their attention to detail and passion for what they do."

Grimes joins the Butler staff as the cornerbacks coach. A native of Indianapolis and a graduate of Lawrence Central High School, Grimes returns to his hometown after serving as a defensive assistant and cornerbacks coach at his alma mater, the University of Findlay, in 2025.

During his time at Findlay, Grimes was instrumental in developing one of the premier secondary units in the G-MAC. In 2023, he helped lead a defense that featured ball-hawking play, as the team tied for the conference lead in interceptions. Under his guidance, the Oilers' defensive backs consistently ranked among the top of the league in pass breakups and forced turnovers, establishing a high standard of play for the cornerbacks group.

As a student-athlete, Grimes was a standout defensive back at both Wittenberg University and the University of Findlay. In his final season at Findlay in 2023, he was named Second Team All-G-MAC after appearing in 11 games and recording 40 tackles, including 4.0 tackles-for-loss. He tied for the conference lead with five interceptions, returning them for 137 yards, and added five pass breakups to his career totals. His performance was highlighted by an impressive streak of recording interceptions in three consecutive games against Thomas More, Walsh, and Ohio Dominican.

Prior to his collegiate career, Grimes was a high-impact player at Lawrence Central, where he was ranked among the top 50 in Division 6A for total tackles during his senior season. He finished his final high school campaign with 71 tackles and was a key leader for the Bears' defense in the Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference (MIC).

Grimes earned his degree from the University of Findlay.

Costantino joins the Butler coaching staff as the wide receivers coach and pass game coordinator. A native of Middlesex, N.J., Costantino arrives at Butler after successful stints at Bucknell University and his alma mater, the University of Dayton.

During his coaching tenure at Dayton, Costantino served as the wide receivers coach, recruiting coordinator, and co-special teams coordinator. He was instrumental in developing one of the most productive receiving corps in the Pioneer Football League, coaching four all-conference players and a finalist for the Jerry Rice Award, given to the top freshman in the FCS. In 2024, his impact extended to special teams, where he oversaw a unit that ranked first in the conference in punt return average and fifth nationally in PFF's special teams rankings.

Costantino's coaching journey began shortly after his playing days, with stops as a graduate assistant at Ball State and an offensive quality control coach at Eastern Illinois. Constantino worked with Coach Lynch at Ball state during his time with the Cardinals early in his career. He also gained valuable experience as a cornerbacks coach and co-special teams coordinator at Westminster College.

As a student-athlete, Costantino was a standout wide receiver at the University of Dayton from 2016 to 2019. A four-time member of the PFL Academic Honor Roll, he was part of a 2019 Flyers squad that finished the season with the No. 1 scoring offense in the FCS, averaging 42.5 points per game. Before his collegiate career, he was a New Jersey Top-50 wide receiver at Immaculata High School.

Costantino graduated from Dayton with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, majoring in marketing with a concentration in sales management.
