Niebrugge Breaks 100-Meter Program Record in Outdoor Season Opener

The Butler track and field team concluded action in the Blizzard Buster in Oxford, Ohio on Friday afternoon to start the outdoor track and field season. 
 
In her Bulldog outdoor debut, freshman Anna Niebrugge broke the school record in the 100-meter sprint with a time of 11.65, earning first-place and beating out the time of 11.88 previously held by Carson Fields. 
 
Carys Glyn-Jones earned second place in the women's 1500-meter event with a time of 4:39.65.
 
In the women's 3000-meter race Hannah Moore earned first with a time of 10:04.34. Mckenna Mazeski placed third with a time of 10:11.15.
 
On the men's side, Aedan Rendek earned first in the men's 1500-meter race with a time of 3:57.42.
 
The Dawgs would earn first and second in the men's 3000-meter race. Sean Byrnes would take the top spot with a time of 8:27.92. Eli Ilg would follow with a time of 8:29.61. 
 
Sean Davies tied for first-place in the men's high jump event with a height of 1.80 meters. Edward Mumford recorded a height of 1.80 meters, but a successful and failed attempt earned him third-place. 
 
The Bulldog women earned fourth place out of nine teams with a score of 51.50 points. The men earned fifth place out of 11 teams with 38 points. 
 
Other Top Bulldog Performers Included:
  • Ryan Elston earned fifth-place in the men's 400-meter dash with a time of 49.71. 
  • Lily Wharton placed fifth in the women's 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.16
  • Joe Pierro earned sixth-place in the men's 100-meter sprint with a time of 10.74. 
  • Three Bulldogs placed in the top ten in the women's 400-meter race. Jenna Plank led the Dawgs in fourth place with a time of 1:00.69 and Cameron Kirtley finished right behind her with a time of 1:00.70. Allie Minier rounded out the three with an eighth place finish with a time of 1:03.27.

The Bulldogs will return to action next weekend in the Raleigh Relays held in Raleigh, N.C. More information on the event will be available on Butlersports.com.
