Four-star prospect Herly Brutus has signed with the Butler men's basketball program and will arrive on campus beginning with the 2026-27 season.
Â
Brutus, a 6-7 wing from Eustis, Fla., finished his prep career at The Villages Charter School. He is the No. 98-ranked player in the Class of 2026 according to the 247Sports Composite.
Â
"Herly brings toughness, athleticism and a high motor," said Butler head coach Ronald Nored. "His size is compounded by a seven-foot wingspan that will allow him to be an impactful defender in the BIG EAST early on in his career. The athleticism and versatility that he brings to the offensive end of the floor fits exactly how we want to play. We're excited for Herly to join our program and can't wait to get him on campus."
Â
Brutus initially signed with LSU during the November signing period but was released from his letter of intent following a coaching change. Butler assistant coach Jalen Courtney-Williams built a strong relationship with Brutus while recruiting him as a member of the LSU staff.
Â
As a senior, Brutus led The Villages Charter School to the Class 3A state championship game. The team posted a 24-8 record. Brutus also led The Villages to the 2025 Class 3A state championship game as a junior. Brutus was named to the 2025 Class 3A All-State Tournament Team after averaging 14.0 points and 6.0 rebounds a contest.
Â
Brutus averaged 15.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and shot 48.6 percent from the floor in the PRO16 League for Tre Mann Elite in 2025. He was part of the 2024 NIKE Elite 100 as well as the Jay Bilas Skills Camp.
Â
Brutus entered his senior year with a 3.9 GPA. He attended Umatilla High School for two years prior to The Villages.
Â
Brutus joins classmate Baron Walker in the Bulldogs' recruiting class. Walker, a guard from Noblesville, Ind., signed with Butler during the early signing period in November.
