Butler Welcomes Seton Hall to Bulldog Park for Weekend Series

INDIANAPOLIS - Butler will host the Seton Hall Pirates for a three-game BIG EAST series this weekend at Bulldog Park. Game one is scheduled for Friday, May 1, with first pitching slated for 3 p.m. The series will be streamed live on the HomeTeam Network.

ABOUT THE BULLDOGS
  • Butler (16-28, 5-7 BIG EAST) is coming off a 3-0 shutout victory over Bowling Green on Tuesday afternoon. 
  • Matthew Rhoades ranks ninth nationally in home runs (19), 41st nationally in total bases (117) and is 72nd nationally in slugging percentage (.672). The junior leads the team in RBIs (36) and runs (40). 
  • Charlie Schebler leads Butler at the dish, slashing .321/.509/.885 in 40 games this season. Schebler is third on the team in doubles (8).
  • Max Winders leads Butler on the mound with a 3-3 record and a 4.03 ERA. Winders has tossed 58 innings this season and has 55 strikeouts to only nine walks. 
  • In 2025, Butler saw Jack Moroknek get drafted in the 11th round by the Washington Nationals. Moroknek led the team in hits (81), batting average (.372), total bases (153), RBIs (57), home runs (18), runs scored (57), slugging percentage (.702) and OPS (1.145) while posting one of the best individual seasons in Butler history. Moroknek was the first Bulldog drafted since Ryan Pepiot was taken in the third round of the 2019 MLB Draft.
  • Head Coach Blake Beemer is in his fourth season at the helm of the Bulldogs. Beemer helped coach back-to-back BIG EAST Freshman of the Year winners Joey Urban (2023) and Kade Lewis (2024) in his first two seasons with the Bulldogs. Beemer played a pivotal role in developing Jack Moroknek who earned All-BIG EAST second team honors a season ago before being selected by the Washington Nationals in the 2025 MLB Draft.
 
SCOUTING SETON HALL
  • Seton Hall (14-22, 2-10) is coming off a 10-5 midweek victory over Lehigh on Wednesday afternoon. Gabe Cavazzoni and Ryan Frontera each recorded three hits against Lehigh on Wednesday en route to the five-run victory. 
  • Cavazzoni leads SHU at the plate, slashing .331/.559/.985 on the season. Cavazzoni leads the team in doubles (14), triples (7) and RBIs (25). 
  • Steven Svenson leads the Pirates on the mound, boasting a 4.98 ERA. Svenson has a 2-4 record in 10 starts and has tossed 47.0 innings.
