ABOUT THE BULLDOGS
- Butler (19-32, 8-10 BIG EAST) is coming off an 0-3 weekend against Xavier. The Musketeers swept the series by scores of 5-2, 12-10 and 9-2.
- Danny Gavin was solid for the Dawgs over three games last week, hitting .500 with one double, two RBIs, three walks, and a hit-by-pitch.
- Matthew Rhoades ranks 18th nationally in home runs (19) and 68th nationally in total bases (125). The junior leads the team in RBIs (42) and is second on the team in runs (44).
- Charlie Schebler leads Butler at the dish, slashing .298/.450/.809 in 47 games this season. Schebler is third on the team in doubles (8).
- Max Winders leads Butler on the mound with a 4-3 record and a 4.21 ERA. Winders has tossed 68.1 innings this season and has 60 strikeouts to only 12 walks.
- In 2025, Butler saw Jack Moroknek get drafted in the 11th round by the Washington Nationals. Moroknek led the team in hits (81), batting average (.372), total bases (153), RBIs (57), home runs (18), runs scored (57), slugging percentage (.702) and OPS (1.145) while posting one of the best individual seasons in Butler history. Moroknek was the first Bulldog drafted since Ryan Pepiot was taken in the third round of the 2019 MLB Draft.
- Head Coach Blake Beemer is in his fourth season at the helm of the Bulldogs. Beemer helped coach back-to-back BIG EAST Freshman of the Year winners Joey Urban (2023) and Kade Lewis (2024) in his first two seasons with the Bulldogs. Beemer played a pivotal role in developing Jack Moroknek who earned All-BIG EAST second team honors a season ago before being selected by the Washington Nationals in the 2025 MLB Draft.
SCOUTING ST. JOHN'S
- St. John's (28-23, 13-5 BIG EAST) is coming off a 2-1 weekend at Villanova. The Red Storm secured wins in games one and two before the Wildcats took game three.
- Shaun McMillan leads SJU at the dish, slashing .328/.515/.920 on the season. McMillan leads the team in hits (67) and is second on the team in home runs with nine.
- On the mound, Liam O'Leary boasts a 7-3 record and a 2.69 ERA, both marks lead the team. O'Leary has allowed 26 earned runs in 87 innings and is second on the team in strikeouts with 58 to his credit.
