The Butler track and field team was recognized on Wednesday after six Bulldogs received All-BIG EAST honors after their respective performances last weekend.

The all-conference teams are composed of the BIG EAST competitors who placed in the top-three in any individual or relay event at the championships. The student-athletes competed from May 14-16 at the Sherman Sports Complex on the campus of the University of Connecticut.

Cabott Craft and
Anna Niebrugge each earned multiple All-BIG EAST honors.Â

On day two of the Championships, Craft earned the gold medal in the men's long jump event with a length of 7.03-meters. On the final day of the Championships, Craft earned third-place in the men's triple jump event with a length of 14.71-meters.Â

Niebrugge finished third in the women's 100-meter sprint with a time of 11.65 seconds. Niebrugge earned second-place in the women's 200-meter and broke her previous school record with a time of 23.67 seconds.Â

Joseph Pierro defended his title in the men's 200 meters to win the gold medal for the second year in a row.Â

Butler also went 1-2 in the men's 10,000 meters to win their seventh straight title in the event.
William Zegarski took the top spot for the second year in a row with a time of 28.51.84.
Matthew Forrester earned third-place with a time of 28:55.93.

Owen Whitney earned second-place in the men's 3000-meter steeple chase event with a time of 9:02.83.Â

A total of 151 student-athletes across nine schools were named to the All-BIG EAST Team.

The NCAA East First Round is scheduled for May 27-30 at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Ky. The top 48 in the region in their respective event will earn entry into the preliminary competition.Â
