Men's soccer head coach Ian Sarachan and his newly assembled staff have released a challenging slate of fixtures for the fall 2026 season. The 18-game schedule begins with three exhibition matches and includes ten home contests at the Sellick Bowl. The Bulldogs will face six opponents that qualified for the 2025 NCAA Tournament.
Prior to regular season play, the Bulldogs will participate in exhibition contests that include an intra-squad scrimmage (Aug. 6) and Marian (Aug. 9), both at the Sellick Bowl, and a short trip to Notre Dame (Aug. 15).
The seven-game non-conference portion of the regular-season schedule is highlighted by matches vs. three 2025 NCAA Tournament qualifiers: Indiana, Lindenwood, and Western Michigan. The Bulldogs travel to face the Hoosiers (Aug. 27), host the Lions (Sept. 4), and are on the road again at the Broncos (Sept. 7). Additional non-conference home dates are Northern Illinois (Aug. 20), Bradley (Aug. 23), and Memphis (Aug. 30). Butler will travel to Dayton on Sept. 12.
BIG EAST opponents are determined by the conference's two six-team divisions. The East Division consists of Connecticut, Georgetown, Providence, St. John's, Seton Hall and Villanova, while the Midwest Division includes Akron, Butler, Creighton, DePaul, Marquette and Xavier. Each team plays all five divisional members once each season in addition to three cross-over matches.
The eight-match BIG EAST schedule begins on Friday, Sept. 18, when the Bulldogs travel to Akron. The following weekend, Butler is again on the road at Providence. The first conference match in the Sellick Bowl will be Friday, Oct. 2, when Seton Hall visits the Butler campus. After a trip to Marquette, the Bulldogs will host Villanova on Friday, Oct. 16, and then travel to Creighton for the final away match of the regular season. Home contests versus DePaul (Oct. 31) and Xavier (Nov. 6) will complete the regular season portion of the schedule. Butler will not face Georgetown, St. John's, or UConn during the 2026 regular season.
A few days after the conclusion of the regular-season schedule, the 2026 BIG EAST Tournament will begin. The top four teams in the league standings will battle in search of the conference's automatic entry into the NCAA Tournament.
Entering his first season as head coach of the Bulldogs, Coach Sarachan and his staff are looking to build on the success the program has previously produced. The Bulldogs have qualified for the BIG EAST Tournament six times since 2016 and competed in the NCAA Tournament in three of those seasons.
The coaching staff is continuing to put the finishing touches on the full 2026 roster. Additional student-athletes who are joining the program will be announced in the coming weeks.
