Andrew Steele has joined Ronald Nored's Butler staff as the Director of Player Development. Steele, a former standout guard at Alabama, brings a decade of college basketball coaching experience to the Bulldog program.
Â
In this role, Steele will work with student-athletes in on-court settings, assist in creating plans and programs for individual and team skill development, and provide administrative, instructional and coaching assistance to Nored.
Â
"I'm really excited to have Andrew join our staff and be part of what we are building here at Butler," said Nored. "He played at a high level and has gained great coaching experience over the last decade. Andrew is a tremendous relationship-builder and our players will enjoy working with him as he pushes them and develops them into the best versions of themselves."
Â
Over the past six seasons, Steele has served as an assistant coach at North Alabama (2025-26), Tennessee Tech (2021-25) and Alabama State (2020-21).
Â
Steele started his coaching career at John Carroll Catholic High School in Alabama — his alma mater — first as an assistant coach in 2013 before leading the program as the head coach for two seasons (2014-16).
Â
He then moved into college basketball, holding positions at South Alabama (2016-18) and Troy (2018-19) before returning to Alabama as the program's director of video services for the 2019-20 season.
As a student-athlete at Alabama, Steele played in 94 games with 20 starts as a four-year letterman, helping the Crimson Tide to three 20-win seasons, an NCAA Tournament appearance and two NIT berths, including a runner-up finish. He was also named team captain for the 2012-13 season.
Steele graduated from the University of Alabama with a bachelor's degree in business marketing in 2012 and earned his master's degree in sport management from the University of South Alabama in 2018. He and his wife, Brittany, a former student-athlete on Alabama's track & field team, have one son, Kaden.
