INDIANAPOLIS - The Butler men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision Thursday evening to visiting Northern Illinois. The match served as the regular season opener for both programs.
 
The match was played at the Sellick Bowl on the Butler campus in Indianapolis.
 
Key Moments
8' | Vance Sheffield headed in the first goal of the game off an assist from teammate Nico Angulo.
49' | Tobias Crear gave the Huskies a two-goal advantage early in the second half. 
 
Bulldog Bits

• The teams combined for 15 shots with Butler holding a slim, 8-7, advantage; four of the Bulldogs' eight attempts were on goal as NIU keeper Cayden Crawford posted four saves.
• Ian Sarachan led the Bulldogs in his first regular season match as the head coach at Butler.
• Five Bulldogs made the first start of their respective Butler careers as keeper Brooks Boersma, Evan Muckridge, Haato Efune, Anden Ellis, and Braden Benyr were part of the Butler Starting XI.
• Hayden Neale, Jaden Hancock, Finn Moran and Hudson Sullivan came off the bench to make their respective Butler debuts.
