Butler's Steven Stephany was named the Pioneer Football League Defensive Player of the Week by the league office on Sunday. Stephany, the senior defensive back, was spectacular in Butler's 52-0 victory over Franklin College on Saturday forcing three turnovers in the contest. 
 
The Lafayette, Ind. native forced two fumbles and recorded an interception against Franklin all in the first half. Stephany finished the game with six total tackles, two forced fumbles, one interception and one pass breakup. Butler forced five turnovers in a game which is tied for the second most in a game in program history. 
 
This is Stephany's first Defensive Player of the Week honor in his Butler career. 
 
Butler will return to action next Saturday, Sept. 19, as the Bulldogs host Chicago State at the Bud & Jackie Sellick Bowl on Homecoming. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. and the game will be streamed live on ESPN+.
