Butler's Chase Lemming has been named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week as announced by the league office Monday, Sept. 21.
 
Lemming, a freshman outside hitter, was spectacular in the Butler Invitational over the weekend, highlighted by a career-high 28 kills in Friday's match against Duke.
 
In the team's two matches over the weekend (including a Sunday match against LIU), the Attica, Ind., native totaled 34 kills, three blocks, and three digs.
 
This is Lemming's first Player of the Week award of her Butler career.

Butler opens BIG EAST action Friday as the Bulldogs host Villanova at Hinkle Fieldhouse. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m., and the game will be on ESPN+. Conference action continues Saturday with the Bulldogs hosting Georgetown in Indianapolis.
