PREVIEW: Butler Hosts Seton Hall for Friday BIG EAST Match

The Butler men's soccer team will play its first match in 14 days and its first home match in 28 days when Seton Hall visits the Butler campus on Friday night. The match will also be the first BIG EAST contest the Bulldogs play on their home turf.

Butler opened conference competition on the road at No. 6 Akron, earning a draw, and last weekend's match at Providence was postponed due to storms on the East Coast. Seton Hall opened BIG EAST play with a 2-1 win at UConn and, a few days later, tied No. 18 Princeton, 0-0.

·      Brooks Boersma is fourth in the BIG EAST and 64th nationally with 30 saves. He also ranks fourth (65th) with 3.75 saves per game.

·      Brendan Cunningham is fifth in the BIG EAST and 86th nationally with 2.50 shots per game.

Saturday (9/26) at Providence

·      The match at Providence was postponed due to inclement weather in the Northeast. It has been rescheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 3.

Friday, Sept. 18 at No. 6 Akron

·      Boersma's shutout was his second of the season.

·      Butler's most recent draw against a team ranked as high as Akron was in 2019 when the Bulldogs tied No. 3 Georgetown in double overtime.

·      Butler also produced a draw with Akron in 2018 when the Zips were ranked No. 4. The 2-2 result came in double overtime.
 

·      Boersma, Cunningham, and Kiel Higginson have each started all eight matches this season.
