Biography

Graduated from Butler in the spring of 2019 and transferred to Indiana University to play his final two seasons of eligibility (scheduled to be 2019-20 and 2020-21).

AS A REDSHIRT SOPHOMORE (2018-19):
Saw action in all 33 games, making the first 13 starts of his Butler career...led the team with a .617 field goal percentage, which ranks Top 10 on Butler's single-season list...his 7.6 points and 3.6 rebounds per game both ranked fifth on the team...shot 65 percent at the free throw line...averaged 18.6 minutes per game...posted career-highs of 20 points and 10 rebounds at Seton Hall Jan. 9, his first career double-double...scored in double figures nine times...led Butler in rebounding four times...registered 10 points and eight rebounds in the win over Presbyterian Dec. 18...went 7-of-7 from the field (17 points) in the season-opening win over Miami (Ohio) Nov. 10...made all six of his attempts from the field (15 points) in the Dec. 8 win over Northern Illinois. 

AS A REDSHIRT FRESHMAN (2017-18 SEASON): Played in 20 games for the Bulldogs, averaging 1.3 points and 1.8 rebounds per game...pulled down 35 rebounds in 109 minutes of play...averaged 5.5 minutes per game...shot 52 percent from the field...had a season-high six points twice (Nov. 10 vs. Kennesaw State and Dec. 21 vs. Western Illinois)...added a career-best eight rebounds in the win over Western Illinois...had seven rebounds against Youngstown State Dec. 9 and five rebounds in the win over Furman Nov. 18...played double-digit minutes in four games, led by 18 in the win over Western Illinois...had a block against both Saint Louis and Villanova.

2016-17 SEASON: NCAA awarded a hardship waiver so the season would count as a redshirt season as Brunk and his family were dealing with his father's cancer diagnosis (Joe Brunk passed away in April of 2017)...appeared in seven games (all within the first 10 games of the season)...practiced with the team throughout the season...had season-bests of 10 points and four rebounds (on 3-of-3 shooting and 4-of-5 from the free throw line) in 18 minutes in the win over Norfolk State, 11/21/16...had six points each in the season-opener against Northern Colorado, 11/12/16, and the 11/19/16 win over Bucknell...played a total of 49 minutes on the season.

PRIOR TO BUTLER: One of the top big men in the state, Brunk finished his senior season averaging 18.3 points and 8.2 rebounds...he helped the Southport Cardinals to a 22-7 record and their first sectional title since 2000 and first regional since 1990...one of three finalists for Indiana’s Mr. Basketball...a four-star recruit on several lists, and was ranked among the Top 100 players nationally by ESPN (69th), Scout (97th) and Rivals (98th) leading into his senior campaign...earned All-State honors in both his senior and junior seniors...selected as an Indiana All-Star in the annual series with Kentucky’s All-Stars...had 16 points and 14 rebounds in the game in Indianapolis and 10 points in the game in Louisville as Indiana swept the two-game series...was also selected as an Indiana Junior All-Star in 2015, part of a team that would play the All-Stars leading up to the series with Kentucky...averaged 16.5 points and 9.0 rebounds as a junior for Southport, which went 23-3 and spent most of the season ranked first in the state of Indiana...Southport improved from 1-19 to 15-8 in Brunk’s sophomore year...a selection for the National Basketball Players Association Top 100 Camp...played for Indy Hoosiers in AAU competition...High School Coach: Kyle Simpson.
