Additional school records were set in rushing yards per season (2,877), rushing touchdowns in a single-season (48), rushing yards per game (283.2), sacks allowed (6), and total offense (537.3).
While at Marian, Coad coached five All-Americans, 17 all-conference offensive linemen and three all-conference tight ends.
Coad played football at Wittenberg University from 2004-08 and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in history. His coaching career also got started at Wittenberg in the fall of 2008. Coad oversaw the defensive line, and special team units. He also helped with the strength and conditioning program.
After leaving his alma mater in 2012, Coad became a graduate assistant at Syracuse until 2014. He worked with the offensive line, defensive line, linebackers and special team units while with the Orange.
Syracuse went 15-11 from 2012-14 and walked away as winners of the 2012 Pinstripe Bowl. In 2013, they were Texas Bowl Champions.
