Primary Recruiting Areas: Northeastern Ohio - Columbus, Cleveland | Pittsburgh
Outreach Recruiting Areas: Pennsylvania, West Virginia, California, Hawaii

Derelle Hankins joined the Butler football coaching staff in 2019. He worked with defensive tackles during his first year on campus and then would oversee the entire defensive line in 2020. Beginning in the fall of 2021, Hankins would begin to coach inside linebackers at BU.

Before coaching at Butler, Hankins coached at Marian from 2015-17. Hankins played college ball at Indiana State from 2007-08, but would end his collegiate career as a Knight from 2009-11.

His first coaching position came at Pike High School as a defensive line coach. While at Pike, Hankins helped the program win a sectional championship in 2013. He coached one All-State player and two All-Conference selections.

He joined Marian's staff in 2015 as their defensive line coach. The Knights posted 20-straight wins during his time on the sideline. They were crowned NAIA National Champions in 2015 and were conference champs in 2016.

The 2016 defense was ranked first in the nation in seven different statistical categories. Stopping the run and getting after the QB were two of their top priorities. Hankins oversaw two players that led the nation in sacks. One in 2015 and another in 2016.

Hankins returned to the sideline at Pike in 2018. He helped coach the Red Devils in 2019 as well.
