Jalen Moss

Jalen Moss

Jalen Moss joined the Butler football program in July of 2022 as an assistant coach. A former student-athlete at Indiana State, Moss coaches cornerbacks for the Bulldogs.

Moss helped Butler’s defense lead the PFL and rank seventh among all FCS teams in scoring defense (17.5 ppg) during the 2023 campaign. The Bulldogs only trailed South Dakota State in red zone defense while coming up with nine interceptions. BU cornerbacks were all over the field in 2023, compiling 39 pass-breakups. Seven different Bulldogs came up with a pick with freshman Devaon Holman leading the way with three.

In 2022, Butler cornerbacks helped the team reach eight interceptions and 28 pass break-ups. True freshman Will Mason led BU in each category with two picks and seven passes defended. For his efforts, Mason was tabbed PFL honorable mention and Fourth Team All-PFL by Phil Steele.

Moss spent the 2021 season at Indiana State after beginning his collegiate playing career at the University of Saint Francis (Ind.). While with the Sycamores, Moss recorded 10 tackles (eight solo, two assisted) and finished the year with one fumble recovery. He came up with a season-high four tackles in a game vs. Eastern Kentucky. During his stay in Terre Haute, Moss also obtained a master’s degree in coaching.

Moss earned a bachelor’s degree in science management at Saint Francis while playing defensive back for the Cougars from 2017-2020.

The move to Indianapolis will be a homecoming for Moss, who is a Fishers native that played high school football at Fishers H.S. This role will be his second on the sidelines of the gridiron. Moss also worked as an assistant coach at Homestead H.S. working primarily with safeties.
