Butler University Athletics

Kenan Smith is in his third seasonas an assistant coach at Butler, and he’s responsible for theBulldogs’ receivers.  He joined the Butler staff afterspending one season as a graduate assistant coach in charge of widereceivers at Anderson University.  He also served as afootball operations volunteer intern at Ball State during thesummer of 2010.  A two-sport athlete at Sacramento State(1999-2003), Smith began his post-graduation career as a marketingintern in the athletic department at the University ofMichigan.  He served as Assistant Director of Marketing &Promotions at Michigan from 2006 to 2009.  His duties atMichigan included working with football, men’s basketball,women’s basketball, corporate hospitality, print/designprojects and managing the student intern program.  Smith wasan all-conference wide receiver in football and a sprinter on thetrack team as an undergraduate at Sacramento State.  He servedas a football team captain as a senior and finished his collegiatecareer ranked in the school’s “Top 10” list forall-time receptions.  Off the field, he served for three yearson the NCAA Division I Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Smith earned a degree in business administration from SacramentoState in 2005, and he’s done additional work toward amaster’s degree in business administration at Anderson.
