Biography

Kenan Smith is in his first season as an assistant coach atButler, and he’s responsible for the Bulldogs’receivers.  He joined the Butler staff after spending oneseason as a graduate assistant coach in charge of wide receivers atAnderson University.  He also served as a football operationsvolunteer intern at Ball State during the summer of 2010.  Atwo-sport athlete at Sacramento State (1999-2003), Smith began hispost-graduation career as a marketing intern in the athleticdepartment at the University of Michigan.  He served asAssistant Director of Marketing & Promotions at Michigan from2006 to 2009.  His duties at Michigan included working withfootball, men’s basketball, women’s basketball,corporate hospitality, print/design projects and managing thestudent intern program.  Smith was an all-conference widereceiver in football and a sprinter on the track team as anundergraduate at Sacramento State.  He served as a footballteam captain as a senior and finished his collegiate career rankedin the school’s “Top 10” list for all-timereceptions.  Off the field, he served for three years on theNCAA Division I Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.  Smithearned a degree in business administration from Sacramento State in2005, and he’s done additional work toward a master’sdegree in business administration at Anderson.
