Biography


AS A REDSHIRT SENIOR (2021-22 SEASON): Utilized the additional season of eligibility provided by the NCAA due to the COVID-19 pandemic...played in a total of 12 games, averaging 9.4 minutes per game...missed the final two months of the season (knee) with his last appearance coming in the Jan. 7 game against Xavier...scored a season-high five points on two occasions (vs. Saginaw Valley State Nov. 30 and vs. Eastern Illinois Dec. 11)...pulled down a season-best seven rebounds in the win over Saginaw Valley Nov. 30...played a season-high 22 minutes in the overtime road win over Oklahoma Dec. 7, scoring four points and posting five rebounds -- all offensive...shot 43 percent from the field (6-14) and made two of his six three-point attempts.

AS A SENIOR (2020-21 SEASON): Saw his first action of the season Jan. 20, 2021 against Xavier after returning from a torn ACL suffered during the 2019-20 season...played in 11 games, which included the first two starts of his Butler career...averaged 12.2 minutes per game...posted averages of 1.8 points and 0.8 rebounds per game...went 3-for-4 from three-point range to score nine points in the Feb. 13 game at Georgetown...played a career-high 29 minutes at Xavier Feb. 21.

AS A JUNIOR (2019-20 SEASON): His season was cut short with a torn ACL suffered in the Jan. 21 game at Villanova...played in 17 games...averaged 13.9 minutes per game...hit the game-winning three-pointer in the Dec. 31 win at St. John's to open the BIG EAST portion of the schedule...scored a season-high eight points (including two three-pointers) in the Nov. 25 win over Missouri as part of the Hall of Fame Classic...averaged 2.6 points and 1.8 rebounds per game...pulled down a season-high five rebounds in back-to-back games as part of the Hall of Fame Classic (vs. Missouri Nov. 25 and Stanford Nov. 26)...missed the first two games of the regular season due to illness before debuting vs. Minnesota in the Gavitt Tipoff Games Nov. 12.

The 2019-20 season was canceled on March 12 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

AS A SOPHOMORE (2018-19 SEASON): Played in 31 of the team's 33 games, averaging 11 minutes per game...led the team with 14 blocks on the season...averaged 1.8 points and 2.0 rebounds per game...played 20 or more minutes in three games...had a season-high six points in the Nov. 16 win over Ole Miss, going 2-for-2 from three-point range...pulled down five rebounds in three separate games...had four assists and three blocked shots against Xavier March 5. 

AS A FRESHMAN (2017-18 SEASON): Saw action in 25 of Butler's 35 games as a freshman...averaged 5.5 minutes per game (138 total)...posted averages of 1.1 points and 0.6 rebounds per game...scored 10 points in the Dec. 9 win over Youngstown State, his only game in double figures as a freshman...went 5-for-5 from the field in that game in a season-high 19 minutes...added a season-best three rebounds...played 10+ minutes in four games...scored seven points, highlighted by a pair of three-pointers, in only six minutes of action against Georgetown Feb. 13...had six points in the win over Morehead State Dec. 19...had four assists against Western Illinois Dec. 21. 

PRIOR TO BUTLER: Four-star prospect according to ESPN, Rivals and 247sports…in the final Class of 2017 rankings, he was ranked No. 82 by ESPN and No. 93 by Rivals…as a senior, averaged 11.9 points, 6.3 rebounds and 6.1 assists per game, shooting 52 percent from the field and 81 percent on free throws…appeared in 22 games while returning from a 2016 injury…Vermont Academy entered the 2016-17 season ranked No. 1 in the preseason national rankings…finished with a record of 19-11…team made the NEPSAC AA Final 4 for the third year in a row…selected for the 2017 BioSteel All-Canadian game…his junior season came to an end in with a knee injury in Vermont Academy’s loss in the New England Class AA semifinals (March 6, 2016)… Vermont Academy went 27-5 his junior year as David earned all-league honors…team won the NEPSAC Championship game for the first time in school history..once rated the top high school prospect in Canada.

PERSONAL: Son of Arnel and Tess...has two siblings, Diane and Ephaim.
