Ali Matta, who has been part of the Butler Men’s Basketball staff since 2022, will take on an increased role with the program after being promoted to Director of Basketball Operations in April of 2026.

Matta’s increased role comes as a member of new Butler head coach Ronald Nored’s staff after serving as the administrative assistant for her father, Thad, for the past three seasons. Thad Matta retired as the Butler men’s basketball coach in March of 2026.

Matta’s role will include involvement in operations, travel, budget, recruiting, game day concepts, and other responsibilities surrounding the men’s basketball program.

Matta joined the Butler staff in 2022. After graduating from Butler in 2021, Matta spent the next year working with Lea Miller-Tooley and her sports consulting agency, Complete Sports Management. Matta was part of the operations team that managed events such as the Battle 4 Atlantis and foreign tours for collegiate men’s and women’s basketball programs all over the globe.
