Tyler Watson joined the Butler staff in May of 2022 as the strength and conditioning coach for the Bulldogs' men's basketball and volleyball programs.
He arrived at Butler after serving as the strength and conditioning coach for the St. John's men's basketball program during the 2021-22 season.
Prior to his time in the BIG EAST, he spent two seasons (2019-21) as the director of women's basketball sports performance at Tennessee. While in Knoxville, he constructed and implemented the strength, conditioning and nutrition programs for one of college basketball's most storied programs, helping the Lady Vols turn in two-year record of 38-18 with an NCAA Tournament berth.
Watson spent one season (2018-19) at Missouri State as an assistant strength and conditioning coach, overseeing activities for men's and women's basketball as well as men's and women's golf. During his one year in Springfield, Watson helped the Lady Bears reach the Sweet 16 before heading to Knoxville with head coach Kellie Harper.
From 2015-18, Watson served as the head strength and conditioning coach at Elon University, overseeing all 16 of the athletic department's varsity teams while working directly with men's basketball, women's basketball, volleyball, women's lacrosse and track & field.
Before taking over at Elon, Watson undertook stints as an assistant at both Tennessee State and Clemson. During his time at Tennessee State, Watson was involved in implementing the strength and conditioning program for both the men's and women's basketball programs.
Watson, who holds a Level I sports performance certification from USA Weightlifting, also held internships with Southern Miss, Vanderbilt and the Buffalo Bills.
Watson, a native of Chattanooga, Tenn., graduated with a degree in exercise science from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 2014.
