Adam Bruh, a former University of Michigan men’s soccer standout, joined head coach Paul Snape’s first Butler staff in March of 2011 and has been an integral part of the program since. He assists in all aspects of the program, with a primary emphasis on recruiting, game-planning, video analysis, and player development.
Alongside Snape, Bruh has played a large role in transitioning Butler's program from the Horizon League to the Atlantic 10 and now to the BIG EAST. The Bulldogs have seen three NCAA Tournament berths in the last eight seasons, with the most recent being 2019. In 2017, the Bulldogs advanced to round three, the third time in program history that the Bulldogs have reached the Round of 16 and the first time since 1995. Since joining the BIG EAST in 2013, Butler has qualified for the BIG EAST Tournament seven times, winning the BIG EAST Championship title in 2016.
The success of Bruh and the staff on the field and has received recognition from others. Two significant accolades have been the 2017 BIG EAST Coaching Staff of the Year and the 2016 NSCAA Great Lakes Region Staff of the Year. Under Snape's direction, Butler has been ranked as high as 7th in the United Soccer Coaches national poll (9/27/2016) and was most recently ranked as high as 12th in the 2022 season.
The staff has refined talent that has moved to the next level and enjoyed success overseas as well as at every level of competition domestically. Most recently, Palmer Ault (who is returning to play at Butler in 2024) was selected by the Colorado Rapids in the second round of the 2024 MLS SuperDraft, and Wilmer Cabrera, Jr. was selected in the third round of the 2023 MLS SuperDraft by the Chicago Fire. Henri Kumwenda competed as a member of the Malawi National Football Team in 2024. Butler's 2014 season saw Zach Steinberger drafted eighth overall by the Houston Dynamo, while teammate Brandon Fricke was selected in the fourth round by the Colorado Rapids.
Bruh joined Butler’s staff after serving one season as a volunteer assistant coach at the University of Michigan, where he worked closely with Snape. Bruh returned to Ann Arbor after a coaching stint with the Albertson Soccer Club in New York, where he gained extensive experience working with the boys youth programs. He was coach of the Albertson Fury 93, perennially a “Top 10” team nationally, and also served as head coach of the Albertson USSF Academy U18 team. He also served as an assistant coach with the U16 squad. The Academy teams are recognized as being one of the top youth boy’s leagues in the U.S. During his tenure at Butler, Bruh has continued to expand his coaching skill and experience, working with the Indiana United Development Academy U18 Boys Team and with the Academy’s U16 Boys squad.
Bruh was four-year letterwinner for the University of Michigan (2002-05) who finished his collegiate playing career as Michigan’s all-time leader and single-season record holder in assists. He recorded a school-record 13 assists in 2002 and compiled 28 assists during his four seasons with the Wolverines. A McDonald’s High School All-American, Bruh was a starter on Michigan’s 2003 NCAA Elite Eight squad, the first Michigan team to advance to the NCAA Championship. He served as a team captain for the Wolverines during his senior season.
Bruh and his wife, Dawn, have two daughters, Olivia and Sophia.
