David Goldsmith joined the Butler coaching staff as a graduate assistant prior to the 2018 season. He also served in an operations role for the 2017 season after graduating from Butler.
As a member of the coaching staff, Goldsmith helped the Bulldogs to NCAA Tournament appearances in both 2019 and 2017.Â
Prior to joining the coaching staff, Goldsmith was one of the greatest men’s soccer players in Butler history.
As a senior, Goldsmith helped the Bulldogs to the 2016 BIG EAST Championship, earning Tournament Most Outstanding Offensive Player honors. During his stellar final year, Goldsmith led the team in numerous offensive categories and ranked in the top three in the BIG EAST in goals, points, and shots. Along the way, he was named the co-BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year, a MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist, and an NSCAA Second Team All-American.
An honor student in the classroom to go along with his accomplishments on the pitch, Goldsmith was selected as the 2016-17 BIG EAST Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year, a distinction chosen from a pool of applicants that included all BIG EAST-sponsored sports and all 10 BIG EAST universities. Goldsmith was also selected as an NSCAA First Team Scholar All-American.
He was also named the 2013 BIG EAST Rookie of the Year. In 72 career matches, he scored 41 goals.
Goldsmith hails from Bristol, England where played for West Bromwich Albion English Premier League Academy. He was also the captain of the Nike Academy on Loughborough, England.
Goldsmith earned his degree from Butler in the spring of 2017.
