Joe Moulden ’19 joined the Butler coaching staff in the spring of 2024. He was a defender for the Bulldogs beginning in 2015 and served as captain during his senior season in 2018.
Moulden comes to Butler after serving as an assistant coach with the Georgia Southern Eagles men’s soccer program from 2020-2023. Over the four seasons, Moulden helped steer the Eagles through Sun Belt Conference competition as the program produced a shutout draw with No. 2 West Virginia and a 1-1 draw with No. 21 Northern Illinois. In addition to training activities and match preparation, Moulden oversaw the academic progress of student-athletes.
Moulden started 76 matches over his four seasons with the Bulldogs, earning All-BIG EAST Second Team honors as a junior in 2017, as well as All-BIG EAST Tournament honors and Third-Team Great Lakes All-Region honors by the United Soccer Coaches. During his time at Butler, the Bulldogs won two BIG EAST titles and made two NCAA tournament appearances, including a run to the Sweet 16 in 2017.
A native of Bolton, England, Moulden earned his bachelor's degree in human movement, health science and education from Butler in 2019 and added a master’s degree in kinesiology from Georgia Southern in 2022.
