Jenna Grim

  • Title
    Assistant Coach

The 2017 season will be the third for Jenna Grim as an assistant softball coach at Butler. The former professional player works closely with the team's outfielders and catchers, while assisting in all aspects of the program.

Grim helped the Bulldogs to the program's first NCAA Tournament appearance as Butler won the 2016 BIG EAST Tournament and advanced to the Lexington Regional at the University of Kentucky.

Grim joined the Bulldogs after serving on the coaching staff at Northwestern during the 2013 and 2014 collegiate seasons. She worked extensively with the Wildcats’ catchers, while assisting with the team’s pitchers. In both of her seasons at the Big Ten school, Northwestern had a pitcher lead the conference in strikeouts. Northwestern pitchers had four no-hitters during Grim’s tenure at the Evanston, Ill., school, and the team advanced to the 2014 NCAA Division I Regional.

A standout collegiate player, Grim was a four-year starter at Loyola (Chicago). She was named to the All-Horizon League Team twice during a career that saw her compete regularly against Butler, then a member of the conference. She finished her career in second place on Loyola’s all-time home run list, and she wound up in fifth place on the school’s all-time list for runs batted in. Grim earned a degree in communications from Loyola in 2011 and then spent the 2012 season as a volunteer assistant coach for the Ramblers.

Following her graduation, Grim won an open tryout to join the Chicago Bandits of the NPF. She helped the professional squad to the 2011 NPF World Championship, and she went on to play three more seasons with the Chicago team.

In addition to her collegiate coaching experience, Grim has worked as a private instructor in hitting, catching and strength and conditioning. She’s been a clinician at multiple camps throughout the Chicago area, and she coached the Beecher Ladycats, a 16U travel softball team.
