Jalissa Trotter

Head coach Sharon Clark has announced the hire of Jalissa Trotter as an assistant coach for the Butler volleyball team.

Recently an assistant at Ouachita Baptist, Trotter played collegiately at Syracuse from 2015 to 2018 and then professionally for a season with Polkky Kuusamo of Finland’s Mestaruusliiga. She ranks eighth in Syracuse history with 2,520 career assists.

“Jalissa is a highly driven coach. Her attention to detail is impeccable and will serve our program well,” said Clark. “She is energetic, has a high IQ, and a tremendous work ethic. She has great experience as a former ACC setter at Syracuse. She will be a tremendous role model for the young women on our team.”

The Arkadelphia, Texas, native has athletic bloodlines, including her mother Melissa Trotter-Hardy playing volleyball at Henderson State (1994-98) and her uncle Jeremiah Trotter playing in the National Football League.

Trotter will focus on working with the Butler setters and offense.

What They’re Saying…

Erin Glickert, SUNY Cortland Head Coach
“Jalissa was one of the most hardworking and driven student-athletes that I have had an opportunity to coach. She was a curious learner and tried to find any way that she could to become a better athlete, player and leader for the team on and off the court. I have no doubt that she will translate that drive into her coaching career and be passionate about helping other student-athletes and Butler Volleyball achieve their goals.”

Tyrone Jenkins, Untouchables EPA Volleyball Club Co-Director and Head Coach
“Today is a big-time day for the Butler University volleyball program. I've known Jalissa for a long time, as I’ve had the opportunity to coach her at the club level, and have watched her grow from the high school level to the collegiate and professional level as a player. Jalissa is a very driven young lady who is very passionate about volleyball and helping young athletes excel not just in the sport but in life. She is committed to doing things the right way. Her players are getting a coach who will be passionate about helping them be better players and helping them grow as people. She will challenge them, treat them like family, will be a great representative of the university, and will continue to grow as a great coach!!”
