DAYTON, Ohio – The Butler men's tennis team improved to 2-1 on the year with a hard-fought, one-point victory at Dayton on Friday afternoon. After losing the doubles point, Butler came back to tie the match during singles play. The deciding match came down to No. 6 Singles where Alex Woldmoe pulled out a close three-set win.

The Bulldogs got off to a good start on Friday by winning the first doubles match 6-2. The tandem of Brandon Woods and Pulok Bhattacharya earned the victory at No. 3 Doubles. No. 2 Doubles went to Dayton as the team of Austin Woldmoe and Alex Woldmoe suffered at 6-2 setback.

The doubles point would end up going to the Flyers as Sam O'Neill and Billy Weldon were edged by Dayton 6-4 in No. 1 Doubles action.

Butler was forced to come from behind as Dayton came out of the break to win two of the first three singles matches. O'Neill defeated his opponent 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 2 spot, but Dayton picked up victories at No. 3 and No. 1 Singles. Austin Woldmoe was defeated in straight-sets at the No. 3 spot 6-1, 6-3 and Bhattacharya took a tough 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 loss.

The Butler push began with a win at No. 4 Singles with Woods winning 6-3, 4-6, 6-2. Tommy Marx really made the match interesting by tying things up at 4-4 with a 6-4, 6-2 win which put all eyes on the No. 6 Singles court.

Alex Woldmoe came up clutch for BU by taking the first set 6-4. A tiebreaker would go against Woldmoe as the match would become tied after a 5-6 (3) tiebreaker. The final set of the day would also go to a tiebreaker, but this time it was Woldmoe who picked up the tight win 6-5 (2).
