Bulldogs Earn 5-2 Win vs. Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS – The Butler men's tennis team handed Indianapolis their first loss of the 2014 season with a 5-2 victory over the Greyhounds on Wednesday afternoon. With the win, Butler improves to 5-1 on the year.

Doubles action finished in order with the No. 1 and 2 teams earning the point. Billy Weldon and Austin Woldmoe defeated Nico Kastunowicz and Caleb Fellers 6-1. The No. 2 team of Brandon Woods and Pulok Bhattacharya also were victorious with a 6-2 win over Fausto Cordova and Marco Torres.

Tommy Marx and Alex Woldmoe teamed up in No. 3 Doubles for BU, but the match went unfinished.

Singles competition started with a 6-3, 6-4 win from Austin Woldmoe in No. 2 Singles. The Greyhounds quickly tied the action with a 6-3, 6-5 win at the No. 4 spot as Marx was defeated by Luke Hubert.

The No. 1 spot was also won by UINDY as Nico Kastunowicz knocked off Bhattacharya 6-5, 6-4. The Bulldogs responded by winning the final three matches of the day to earn the win.

Woods defeated Cordova 6-3, 5-6, 6-5 in a pivotal match and the bottom of the lineup was dominated by BU as Weldon took a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 5 Singles and Alex Woldmoe finished his opponent 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6 Singles.

The Bulldogs will return to action this weekend with a 2 p.m. match vs. ASA at the Butler Bubble.
