Blue Demons Edge Bulldogs 4-3 in Men's Tennis

CHICAGO – Butler won the doubles point, but DePaul came back to win four of six in singles competition to earn the 4-3 victory on Saturday afternoon. The BIG EAST matchup now has Butler 7-4 overall while DePaul improves to 3-9.

DePaul took an 8-4 win at No. 1 Doubles, but BU came back to earn the point with an 8-6 win at No. 3 and an 8-7 win at No. 2. Alex Woldmoe and Tommy Marx tied the action with a win at No. 3 and the tandem of Pulok Bhattacharya and Brandon Woods won the point by representing Butler at No. 2.

Sten Leusink got the ball rolling for DePaul in singles play with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Sam O'Neill at No. 3. The Blue Demons made it three in a row with wins at No. 5 and No. 4. Billy Weldon took the 6-2, 6-2 loss vs. Kyle Johnson at No. 5 and Josh Schramm knocked off Brandon Woods 6-2, 6-3 at No. 4.

All eyes turned to No. 1 Singles as Filip Dzanko defeated Bhattacharya 6-3, 6-3 to give DePaul the win. Butler came up with two victories late in the day with a 7-5, 2-6, 10-2 win at No. 2 Singles as Austin Woldmoe beat David Vieyra. The final match featured Tommy Marx knocking off Tim Corwin 6-3, 6-3.
