@ButlerWTennis Regional Championship Recap

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind.
-- The Butler women's tennis team competed in the USTA/ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championship over the weekend. The four-day tournament began on Thursday, Oct. 15 with the championship rounds being played on Monday, Oct. 19 on the campus of Purdue University.

Bailey Padgett was the only Bulldog to qualify for the singles main draw. Padgett dropped her opening round match to Justina Mikulskyte of Kentucky 6-2, 6-1. While Padgett could not advance through the main draw, she did find some success in the consolation bracket.

Padgett defeated Morehead State's Ayaka Terashi 7-5, 7-6 (4), before taking a tough loss on Saturday to Brittany Lindl of Tennessee. Padgett fell to Lindl 6-7(2), 6-4, 10-6.

Other Bulldogs in action included Kylie Haviland who dropped her qualifying match to Western Kentucky's Tereza Hejlova 6-4, 6-2. Konstantina Adami joined Haviland, as the pair matched up against Guinart and Ma of Eastern Tennessee in the doubles qualifying draw. Adami and Haviland were unable to pull out the victory, dropping their qualifying match 8-2.

The tournament marked the final action for Butler this fall. The team will begin their spring season in January.
