Visiting San Diego used a stout defense and an early 14-0 lead to propel to a 44-10 victory Saturday afternoon at the Butler Bowl. With the win, San Diego improves to 3-1 overall and 2-0 in the Pioneer Football League. Butler falls to 2-3 (0-2 PFL).

The Toreros had 526 yards on the afternoon, led by 326 yards passing from Anthony Lawrence and 128 yards on the ground from Jonah Hodges.

San Diego jumped out to a 14-0 lead with a 92-yard drive that ended with a Tevin Heyward 1-yard plunge, and a quick-hitting drive that culminated in a 32-yard connection from Anthony Lawrence that Brian Riley hauled in with one hand.

Leading 17-0 at the half after Butler's defense stiffened in the second quarter, San Diego used three touchdowns within a six-minute period late in the third quarter leading into the fourth quarter to take a commanding lead.

Will Marty got his first career start under center in a Butler uniform. He had 177 yards through the air, including a 13-yard connection with
Cord Collier in the fourth quarter for his first career touchdown toss. Marty connected with
Pace Temple seven times for 94 yards.
