Logan Leads the BIG EAST in Kills
Anna Logan is one of the top offensive talents in the country and she has the numbers to prove it. Heading into Wednesday's match, Logan ranks third in the NCAA in both total kills (384) and points (434.5). The focal point of the BU offensive attack is hitting .267 on the year to average 4.47 kills per set. The outside hitter is now 92 kills away from moving into the top ten of the Butler record book for most kills recorded in a single-season.
Ferguson Moves to 6th All-Time in Career Assists
Makayla Ferguson has been an impact player at Butler since her rookie season in 2014 when she earned BIG EAST Freshman of the Year honors. Now in her junior season, the standout setter has moved to sixth place all-time at Butler in the career assists category with 2,927. The Martinsville, Ind. native has surpassed 50 assists two different times this season with 58 vs. Gonzaga in the 2016 season opener (5-sets) and 52 in a four-set victory against Loyola. Her career-high total in a single-game came during her freshman campaign when she posted 60 in a five-set match vs. St. John's.
Logan Lands on BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Despite an 0-2 record last week, Logan did all she could for the Bulldogs as she reached a double-figure kill count in each contest to average 3.75 points, 3.30 kills, 1.90 digs per set on .232 hitting. She had 21 kills in a loss at Xavier.
Killin' It
Sophomore
Anna Logan eclipsed the 20-kill mark for the eighth time this season in the Bulldogs 3-2 setback against Xavier last week. She was only able to record 20 kills one time during her freshman season. Logan's high level of play during the 2016 season has already allowed her to bypass her 2015 kill total. Through 22 matches this year, Logan has recorded 384 kills, her 2015 total came in at 366.
Triple Threat
Each year during BIG EAST action, the Bulldogs are called upon to play three conference matches in the same week. This busy stretch of the schedule hasn't been a problem for the Bulldogs since entering the BIG EAST in 2013. BU went 3-0 in 2013, 2-1 in 2014 and 2-1 again in 2015.
Where It's At
Whitney Beck was on point last week in a pair of conference matches against DePaul and Xavier. Beck put together consecutive double digit kill performances for the first time since conference play began while posting some of her best numbers of the season in the home tilt vs. Xavier. Against the Musketeers, Beck tied her season-high kill total (18) while setting a new season-high dig total (18). Her second double-double of the season also included a season-high 47 attacks and 19.5 total points.
Shake It Up
Anna Logan is the only player to start in all 22 games for Butler this season.
Taylor Takeda joins Logan as the only two players on the roster to appear in all 86 sets.
Battle of the Bulldogs
The Georgetown Hoyas will visit Hinkle Fieldhouse on Saturday evening in search of their first-ever win against Butler. BU has won all seven matches in the all-time series against Georgetown. On top of never losing to the Hoyas, BU has only given up two sets to Georgetown in their six matches as BIG EAST foes.
Figure Out the Fifth Set
Three of Butler's four BIG EAST losses this season have gone five full sets.
Schedule Swing
After Butler's road trip to Milwaukee on Wednesday, the Bulldogs will return home to Hinkle Fieldhouse to play four-straight home matches. On the flip side, after the home stand, Butler will play five-straight road matches.
Up Next
The final two home contests for Butler during the month of October will fall next weekend when BU hosts St. John's and Seton Hall. Butler split the 2015 season series vs. the Red Storm last year while the Pirates picked up the 2-0 sweep.
