Butler created a number of opportunities over the final 45 minutes but none of the chances found the net as the ninth-ranked Bulldogs dropped a hard-fought 1-0 battle Friday night at No. 10 Creighton. The clash between the top two teams in the BIG EAST leaves Butler at 8-2-1 overall and 3-1 in league play. Creighton is now 7-1-3 (3-0-1).

After being out-shot, 9-2, in the opening half, Butler controlled play in the second half, creating 10 shots to just two for the home team. A frantic final minute had the ball in front of the Creighton frame several times, but
Alex Lehtinen's shot at the final horn rolled just wide.

The lone score of the match came in the 14
th minute as Riggs Lennon headed in a corner kick by Joel Rydstrand. It was the ninth goal of the season for Lennon.

Lewis Suddick led Butler with three shots on the night. Lehtinen and
Isaac Galliford had two apiece.

Eric Dick made four saves on the night, negating several additional Creighton chances in the first half.

Alex Kapp was credited with the shutout for Creighton, which now leads the BIG EAST with 10 points (Butler has nine) through four matches of league play.

The Bulldogs have a quick turnaround and another Top 10 opponent on the horizon as Denver, ranked No. 7 nationally, comes to the Butler Bowl for a Monday match. The Pioneers are Butler's third Top 10 foe over a four-match stretch.
