Butler shot 62 percent from the field and had four players register double figures in an 86-60 win over Bucknell Saturday afternoon at Hinkle Fieldhouse. The game was the first contest as part of the Continental Tire Las Vegas Invitational. The Bulldogs never trailed in the contest, improving to 3-0 on the season.

Avery Woodson and
Tyler Wideman each had 14 points for Butler, which scored 16 of the game's first 20 points and carried a double-digit lead from that point forward. Butler made six of its first eight attempts. The Bulldogs never trailed in the contest.

"There are a lot of good things that we can take from today," said Butler coach
Chris Holtmann. "I loved how we moved the ball and shared the ball. You have to do that, especially against a team like Bucknell and how they defend. We had some lapses defensively at times today and that's one of the things we need to clean up with a quick turnaround and another game Monday night."

The Bulldogs shot 65 percent in the first half, but the visiting Bison made half their shots in the opening 20 minutes to limit the Butler lead to 44-33 at the break. Butler opened the second half with a 13-4 run that pushed the lead to 20 and ultimately put the game out of reach.

Wideman went 6-of-8 from the field en route to his 14 points. Woodson went 3-of-4 from behind the arc. Butler had 19 assists on its 36 made field goals, led by seven from
Tyler Lewis and four from
Andrew Chrabascz.
Kelan Martin (13) and
Kamar Baldwin (10) also had double figures.

Butler's defense forced Bucknell into 19 turnovers, converting those into 25 points. The Bulldogs committed only eight miscues on the afternoon.

Nana Foulland led the Bison with 16 points on 7-of-8 shooting.

Butler returns to action Monday night with an 8:30 p.m. tip against Norfolk State. This is the second game of the Las Vegas Invitational for Butler before the Bulldogs travel West for games over the Thanksgiving holiday. Monday's game will air nationally on FS1 and tickets are still available.
