Butler used a 2-1 win at Xavier to capture the No. 2 seed in the upcoming BIG EAST Tournament. The result also gives the Bulldogs a bye into the tournament's semifinals, a match they will host in Indianapolis. With the win, Butler improves to 11-5-1 and finishes the BIG EAST regular season at 6-3.
Butler jumped out quickly in the match as a trio of freshmen combined on the Bulldogs' first goal of the match in the third minute.

Lewis Suddick for a shot inside the left post. It was Suddick's tenth goal of the season.
Xavier would answer in the 17
th minute on a goal by Jalen Brown. The match would stay tied at 1-1 until the 77
th minute when Suddick scored once again. His 11
th goal of the season came off an assist by
Jared Timmer. Suddick's shot deflected off a Xavier defender into the net for the game-winner.
Butler played the last 18 minutes of the match a man-down.
Butler was out-shot, 19-10, in the match, but only four of Xavier's shots were on goal. Galliford had a team-high three shots for Butler.
Eric Dick withstood the 19 shots to make three saves and post his 11
th win of the season.
Butler will now host a BIG EAST Tournament semifinal one week from tonight. The full BIG EAST Tournament bracket will be available following the conclusion of tonight's matches. The Bulldogs, as the No. 2 seed, will host the winner of Sunday's quarterfinal between the No. 3 and No. 6 seeds.
