OMAHA, NEB. – Butler dropped a three-set match on Friday night to #25 Creighton 12-25, 14-25, 17-25. The loss moves the Bulldogs overall record to 16-13 and their record in conference now sits at 5-8.
Bri Lilly led the attack for the 'Dawgs with seven kills.
Anna Logan added six of her own along with seven digs.
Makayla Ferguson had a team-leading 11 assists in the match.
The BU defense faced a strong CU offense that amassed a .415 hitting percentage during the three sets.
Taylor Takeda tied the match-high with 12 digs.
Jessica Klingensmith also contributed to the defense with two blocks.
Creighton took the first set over Butler, 12-25. The Bulldogs offense was led by Logan and
Maddie Freiwald, both notching three kills for the set. Takeda produced for the defense with a set-high seven digs.
The Blue Jays took the second set over the 'Dawgs, 14-25. Takeda and
Christina Porada both accounted for a service ace in the second. Logan added five of her seven digs on the night in the set for BU.
CU finished the match in the third set, defeating Butler 17-25. Lilly had four kills on just six attempts for the Bulldogs in the third. Freiwald and Logan both added two kills a piece in the final set of the night.
BU will continue conference play on Sunday against the Friars of Providence. The matchup in Providence, R.I will get underway at 1PM.
