INDIANAPOLIS – The Bulldogs moved to 2-6 on the year with a pair of setbacks this week. The team took a tough 4-3 loss at home to Indianapolis and ended the weekend with a 6-1 road loss to No. 46 Louisville.
The doubles point would go to the Greyhounds on Thursday afternoon as UINDY defeated Butler at No. 2 and No. 3. Christop Drechsler and Magnus Mueller earned the first win of the day with a 6-3 decision over Spencer Lang and Adrian Mag at No. 2. BU would pull even with a win at No. 1 with Ari Gerstein and Alex Woldmoe winning 6-3 over Huertas Del Pino and Andrea Morlet.
With doubles action split at 1-1, all eyes turned to No. 3 where Luke Hubert and Marco Razo defeated Mason Dragos and Mikheil Khmiadashvili 6-4.
Singles competition got off to a good start for the home team as Lang defeated Mueller at No. 4 for the first Butler point of the day 7-5, 6-2. It seemed as if Butler was on the verge of going up 2-1 with Dragos in control of No. 1 singles but after winning the first set 6-3, Dragos dropped the point to Huertas Del Pino 3-6, 6-2, 6-4.
The Greyhounds would open up a 3-1 lead after a 6-3, 7-6 win at No. 3 with Hubert knocking off Gerstein, but the Bulldogs would stay alive with a win at No. 2 by Khmiadashvili 6-7, 6-4, 6-3 at No. 2.
The deciding factor was a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles by Marco Razo. He defeated Alex Woldmoe to ice the win. Butler would get the score to 4-3 with Mag defeating Morlet 6-4, 6-4 at No. 6.
Saturday's action at Louisville belonged to the Cardinals as they defeated the Bulldogs 6-1. The lone Butler point would be recorded by Mason Dragos at No. 2 singles. He defeated Carlos Longhi Neto 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (12-10).
Another special effort for BU came at No. 1 Singles where Khmiadashvili battled Morin-Kougoucheff. The tiebreaker would go to the home team 6-7 (7-9), 7-5, 1-0 (10-7).
