DEKALB, Ill. – The Butler men's tennis team recorded their third win of the season with a 4-3 victory at Northern Illinois on Friday night. Mason Dragos earned the deciding win with a victory at No. 2 singles.
They match started off with Northern Illinois winning the doubles point. NIU dominated the action at No. 3 doubles 6-0 while also winning at No. 2 6-4.
Singles competition would tell a different story however as Spencer Lang quickly tied the action at 1-1 with a win at No. 6 singles 6-1, 6-4. The next result would give Butler their first lead of the night as Ari Gerstein won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3.
Georg Lundvist would even the score with a win at No. 4 singles against Alex Woldmoe 6-4, 6-4 and the Huskies would grab momentum with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 1.
All eyes turned to No. 5 and No. 2 singles as the Bulldogs would need both to pull out the victory. Adrian Mag kept the 'Dawgs alive with a 6-7, 7-5, 6-2 win over Kevin Daun and a 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 winner from Dragos at No. 2 would seal the win.
