The Bulldogs combined for a 3-1 mark in games played Friday and Saturday in Tampa, Fla. Butler is now 13-10 on the season with two games scheduled for Sunday to conclude their annual Spring Break trip.

Butler posted a 1-0 win over Western Michigan Friday in eight innings. Kristin Gutierrez went the distance to post the win. She scattered three hits and one walk while striking out seven.

Kaitlin Doud had the game-winning RBI with a single to right field. That scored Sarah Dixon, who had singled earlier in the inning.

The Bulldogs took on Maine in the second game Friday. Butler ran into Molly Flowers, who no-hit the Bulldogs in the five-inning, 8-0 decision. Butler drew five walks, but couldn't push a run across.

Mikeila Boroff got the start and took the loss (3-2).

On Saturday, Butler used a three-run bottom of the fifth to take a 3-1 win over Detroit. With two outs and the bases loaded, Dixon tripled to left field to clear the bases and give Butler a lead it would not relinquish.

Maggie MacBeth and Cheyenne Thompson each had two hits in the game.

Gutierrez struck out eight in her complete game, allowing six hits and three walks to push her record to 6-4.  

In Saturday's final game, Butler posted a 5-2 win over Quinnipiac. Kacey Starwalt got the start for Butler before giving way to Boroff in relief.

Doud knocked in four of the five runs, including a two-run homerun to left center in the fourth inning.

Butler completes the Florida trip with Sunday games against Southern Illinois and UMass-Lowell.
