INDIANAPOLIS – The Butler men's tennis team improved to 7-8 on the year with two 5-2 victories on Saturday. The first win came at home against Case Western Reserve, while the nightcap came on the road at IUPUI.

The Bulldogs have now won three-straight as they head into the month of April with six matches remaining on the 2016 schedule.

The day got started with Butler winning the doubles point against the Spartans. Mikheil Khmiadashvili teamed up with Mason Dragos to win at No. 1 6-2. The deciding factor early in the match came down to No. 2 doubles where Ari Gerstein and Alex Woldmoe recorded a 6-3 win to put BU in front 1-0.

Butler took a commanding lead by getting wins at No. 5 and No. 3 singles. Spencer Lang won 6-1, 6-0 against John Benedetto at No. 5 while Gerstein took care of Louis Stuerke 6-1, 6-3 at No. 3.

Case Western Reserve avoided the shutout with a win at No. 1 6-3, 6-1. Their second victory was the final court to end on the day at No. 2.

Butler dominated the bottom of the lineup with wins at No. 6 and No. 4. Mag posted a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 6 while Woldmoe defeated Kevin Dong 6-2, 6-3 at No. 4.

The nightcap also featured Butler winning the doubles point with BU recording wins at No. 1 and No. 2. Khmiadashvili and Dragos edge their opponents 7-6 at No. 1 and Gerstein and Woldmoe would win easily at No. 2 6-1.

Dragos held the top spot for BU in singles action and would respond with a quick 6-1, 6-1 win. Gerstein was a 6-2, 2-6, 6-1 winner at No. 3 and BU would move to the winner's circle after finishing off IUPUI with wins at No. 5 and 6. Lang posted a 7-5, 6-0 win at No. 5 and Temilope Adelakun won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 6.
