CINCINNATI – The Butler men's tennis team was defeated 4-1 at Xavier over the weekend. The lone BU win was picked up by Mason Dragos at No. 1 Singles. Dragos defeated Zach Mueck 7-5, 6-3 to get BU on the scoreboard.
Doubles action went to the home team as the Musketeers recorded victories at No 2 and No. 3. All three matches went down to the wire with Xavier edging Butler for the first points of the day. Spencer Lang and Adrian Mag took a 7-5 setback at No. 3, but the 'Dawgs would respond with a 7-6 win at No. 1 behind the team of Mikheili Khmiadashvili. All eyes then shifted to No. 2 doubles where Jeremy Schneider and Brian Carman narrowly defeated Ari Gerstein and Alex Woldmoe for the point 7-6.
In singles, Dragos won (No. 1) while Khmiadashvili (No. 2) and Woldmoe (No. 6) went out unfinished. Mag was retired 7-5, 6-2 at No. 5, Lang went down 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4 and Gerstein was knocked off 6-1, 6-1 at No .3
