@ButlerVB Welcomes Back Dana Matis as Assistant Coach

INDIANAPOLIS -- Dana Matis returns to the Butler Volleyball program after serving as an assistant coach in 2011. Over the past four years, Matis has been the varsity volleyball coach at Center Grove High School where she was a Physical Education & Health teacher.

Matis led the Trojans to 99-39 record, a Final Four appearance, three Sectional Championships, and two MIC championships. She coached four first team All-State athletes and one All-American.

Matis' coaching career began as a graduate assistant at the University of Tennessee where she studied Sport Psychology from 2009 to 2011. The Lady Vols finished the seasons 24-8 and 25-7 and advanced to the 2nd round of the NCAA tournament.

As a player, Matis was a four-year starting setter and team captain for Butler from 2005 to 2008. She stands fifth all-time in assists for Butler. He sister, Katie Daprile, played libero for the Bulldogs from 2007-2010 and stands as the all-time digs leader at Butler.

Matis has been coaching club volleyball for 10 years and currently coaches at Circle City Volleyball Club. She is pursuing a certification in Russian Kettlebell Training and trains at the School of Strength in Greenwood, Indiana.

Matis married Willie Matis in 2015, they have one dog and reside in Franklin, Indiana.
