INDIANAPOLIS – The Butler Bulldog men's tennis team improved to 9-8 overall with a Thursday afternoon victory at home against DePauw. The match against the Tigers went down as the final home contest of the regular season for BU.
The Bulldogs went out with a bang by recording three wins in doubles competition. The No. 1 team of Mason Dragos and Mikheil Khmiadashvili posted a 6-4 win over Dan Rodefeld and Alec Kackowski. Temilope Adelakun and Adrian Mag also won their match 6-4 at No. 3 doubles. Ari Gerstein and Spencer Lang were also involved in doubles play for BU. The No. 2 team won 6-2 over Pat Farrell and John Daseke.
Dragos, Gerstein and Khmiadashvili made up the top of the BU order in singles competition while 4-5-6 went to Lang, Mag and Adelakun.
Gerstein had to fight off Farrell in three sets 6-2, 3-6, 6-0 but his strong finish kept the sweep alive. Dragos won at the top spot 6-2, 6-2 while Khmiadashvili walked away as a winner 6-4, 6-2.
Lang and Mag made quick work of their opponents 6-2, 6-1 and 6-1, 6-1. Action at No. 6 went to Adelakun who won 6-3, 6-2.
