@BUMensTennis Ends Year vs. Creighton

CAYCE, S.C. – The Butler men's tennis team wrapped up the 2016 regular season with a 4-3 loss to Creighton in the consolation bracket of the BIG EAST Conference Tournament. Each side won three single matches, but the doubles point went to the Bluejays with wins at No. 2 and 3.

The first point of the day turned out to be the most important with Creighton taking two of three in doubles competition. Alex Koca and Brooks Kendall defeated Ari Gerstein and Alex Woldmoe 6-4 at No. 2 and the point would fall to the Bluejays after another 6-4 win, this time at No. 3 with Quinn Dippel and Aaron Chalstrom knocking off Spencer Lang and Adrian Mag.

Butler did pick up a win at No. 1 with Mikheil Khmiadashvili and Mason Dragos defeating Harrison Lang and August Nysted 6-2.

Dragos took that momentum into his No. 1 match against Alex Koca where he was a close one 7-5, 6-7, 6-4. Lang and Mag were also winners near the bottom of the lineup. Lang represented BU at No. 4 with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Brooks Kendall. Mag was one spot down at No. 5 where he won a three-set match 6-3, 1-6, 6-1.

The match would come down to No. 6 singles after Dragos kept Butler alive with his No. 1 win. Tied up at 3-3, Jake Glazer would push Creighton over the top with his win against Lope Adelakun 4-6, 6-4, 7-6.
