Stacey Goyette, one of Butler's most accomplished players during her time as a Bulldog, has returned to the program as an assistant coach. Head coach
Scott Hall announced the move Friday, August 26. Goyette will be actively involved in all aspects of the program, including serving as the team's pitching coach.
Â
"Having Stacey join our staff is a significant move for our program," said Hall. "She not only is one of the best Bulldogs from her time on the field, but she has been successful in the coaching ranks. Stacey is going to be a great resource for our players and will have a large impact on our success."
Â
Goyette, then Stacey Wilson, twice earned All-Midwestern Collegiate Conference honors for the Bulldogs, starring at first base, second base, and as a pitcher. She led the MCC in batting (.381) and in doubles (14) during her senior campaign in 1993. She was also named to the MCC All-Tournament Team that season. She earned second-team All-Conference honors in 1992. She arrived on the Butler campus after a stellar prep career at Shenandoah High School in Middletown, Ind.
Â
Goyette has put together a strong coaching résumé at Shenandoah High School, serving as the varsity softball coach since 2011. She managed all facets of the program and led the team to a 2014 sectional championship.
Â
She has also led successful travel ball programs, guiding the Hoosier Crush Gold 16U team for the 2013 and 2014 seasons. The team won the USFA State Championship and was an ASA Midwest Regional qualifier. From 2011-2013, Goyette coached the Indiana Prospects Gold 16U and 18U teams that qualified for PGF and ASA Gold Nationals.
Â
Prior to joining the Butler staff, Goyette served as president and executive board member of the Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association.
Â
The Bulldogs return a talented group from the program's first BIG EAST title team and first NCAA Tournament team.
Maggie MacBeth earned All-BIG EAST and NFCA All-Region honors a season ago. She is one of seven starters who return for the 2017 season. Hall's roster includes eight talented newcomers. Butler's fall slate begins next month with the spring schedule to be released in the coming weeks.
