INDIANAPOLIS – The Butler softball team was unable to get on the board in game three of a BIG EAST series with Creighton as the Bluejays (20-20, 9-3 BIG EAST) scored runs in three separate innings en route to a 7-0 win. The Bulldogs (17-12, 9-3 BIG EAST), who took game two of the series on Thursday, are now tied with Creighton at second place in the BIG EAST standings, just behind Providence (15-3, 7-2 BIG EAST).
Creighton scored one run in the first, on a sacrifice fly, and then added three in the fourth on a walk and three hits. The Bluejays added their final three runs in the sixth using three singles and back-to-back doubles.
Makena Alexander, Kayla Preiss, and Alona Boydston were the three Bulldogs who produced a hit in the contest.
Maren Berger (1-3) started in the circle for Butler and took the loss. In 5.0 innings, she allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits and two walks. Alyx Johnson (1.0-IP, 3R, 5H, K) and Kate Murray (1.0-IP, H) each provided one inning of relief.

Butler will travel to Bloomington, Ind., to play the Indiana Hoosiers on Wednesday, April 8. The Bulldogs will then host UConn for a three-game BIG EAST series from Friday-Sunday, April 10-12.
