INDIANAPOLIS- Butler defeated the Friars of Providence in three sets at Hinkle Fieldhouse on Friday night (25-18, 25-20, 25-14). With this win the Bulldogs improve to 13-6 on the season, and 2-1 in conference play.

Makayla Ferguson was active on both offense and defense for BU, finishing with a double double. Ferguson had a match-high 34 assists along with 14 digs in the three sets of play.
Anna Logan was also dominant on offense, amassing a team-high 17 kills in the match for a total of 19 points.

Taylor Takeda performed at a high level on the defense end for Butler, eclipsing the 20-mark for digs. Takeda finished with a match-high 22 digs to help lead the Bulldogs to victory.
Jessica Klingensmith also added a team-high three blocks against the Friars.

The 'Dawgs took the first set of the night, 25-18. Logan lead the offensive attack with six kills on 14 attempts with just one error for a .357 hitting percentage. Ferguson added a set-high 11 assists and a service ace for the Bulldogs. Takeda was effective on the defensive end, notching 12 of the teams 28 digs during the set.

Butler outlasted Providence in a hard fought second set to grab a 25-20 victory. The set was going back and forth until Logan took over serving with the Bulldogs ahead 21-20. Logan finished off the Friars with four straight serves to close out the set 25-20.
Whitney Beck was also very productive in the second, collecting a set-high seven kills for the 'Dawgs.

The Bulldogs finished the third set with a dominating 25-14 victory to end the match. The set saw a late service surge by Takeda, whose three straight serves pushed the Butler lead to 24-14. Logan accounted for seven kills on only 13 attempts in the set to lead the 'Dawgs, but it was Beck who secured the victory with a vicious kill to end the match.

Butler will return to conference action tomorrow against the Blue Jays of Creighton. The game, taking place in Hinkle Fieldhouse, will begin at 6PM.Â
