The win was the third straight for SIUE, which improves to 6-6 on the season.
Butler, which entered the match ranked No. 20 nationally in the United Soccer Coaches poll, falls to 7-4 on the season, surrendering their second consecutive game.

Brandon Guhl led Butler with three shots.
Eric Dick made two saves for the Bulldogs.
The contest was a rematch of a 2016 NCAA Tournament game between the two teams in Indianapolis, one that was a 0-0 draw with SIUE advancing in the tournament on penalty kicks.

The Bulldogs return to action Saturday night at the Sellick Bowl, hosting DePaul in a 7 p.m. BIG EAST match. Butler is 3-1 in BIG EAST play and tied with Georgetown atop the league standings. The contest will be streamed live on the BIG EAST Digital Network, part of the FOX Sports Go app. That match starts a three-game homestand for the Bulldogs, who will also host Indiana (Oct. 18) and Villanova (Oct. 21).
