Two goals from 
Brandon Guhl propelled the Bulldogs to a 2-0 win over BIG EAST foe DePaul Saturday night at the Sellick Bowl in Indianapolis.
With the win, Butler improves to 8-4 on the season and 4-1 in BIG EAST play. The Bulldogs, ranked No. 20 in this week's United Soccer Coaches poll, are tied with Georgetown atop the BIG EAST standings.
Guhl's goals came in the tenth and 81
st minutes. The first goal was unassisted as Guhl intercepted a failed clear by Blue Demons keeper Quentin Low. Guhl then beat Low 1v1.
For the second goal, 
Isaac Galliford played a ball through to 
Alex Lehtinen on the left side, who sent a low cross in front of the goal that Guhl was able to score with a low shot to the bottom right corner. For Guhl, he now has a BIG EAST-best nine goals on the season.
Butler keeper 
Eric Dick had six saves in the shutout win, his fifth of the season.
The Bulldogs had 17 shots in the match, including 11 in the first 45 minutes. DePaul had nine of their 14 shots in the second half as they increased possession for much of the time after intermission.
DePaul is now 4-8-1 (1-3-1 BIG EAST).
The physical match included 33 total fouls (22 by DePaul) and four yellow cards.
The Bulldogs return to action Wednesday, hosting top-ranked Indiana in an in-state battle. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. and will be streamed on the ButlerBulldogs Facebook page. Butler is back in BIG EAST play Saturday (Oct. 21) when Villanova visits the Sellick Bowl.
