In front of more than 6,000 fans, Butler and No. 1 Indiana played to a 0-0 tie Wednesday night at the Sellick Bowl in Indianapolis. The match marked Butler's final non-conference action of the season.
The double-overtime result is the Bulldogs' first tie of the season as they had previously won all four of their overtime contests. Butler is now 8-4-1, while the top-ranked Hoosiers are now 12-0-3.
This is the fifth straight match-up between the in-state rivals to go to overtime.
Wednesday's of attendance was 6,015, which is both a record for a Butler men's soccer match as well as the largest crowd to witness a contest at the Sellick Bowl since the facility was renovated in 2010. The previous record was 5,029 for the 2013 match against Indiana.
Butler's best chance of the game came in the fifth minute as sophomore
Brandon Guhl was able to get a look around an IU defender. His shot rolled just wide of the left post. Indiana's best opportunity came off a corner kick in the 64
th minute. Trevor Swartz's shot sailed high after he got a foot on a loose ball in the box.
Redshirt senior
Eric Dick posted his sixth shutout of the season. He made one save in doing so. Each team took eight shots.
Hoosiers keeper Trey Muse added 110 minutes to his consecutive scoreless stretch, which is now at 889. That total is No. 7 on the NCAA all-time list. Indiana posted their ninth consecutive shutout.

Bennett Kim each had two shots for Butler; Swartz led Indiana with three shots.
The Bulldogs played without center back
Joe Moulden, who sat out the match after he picked up his fifth yellow card of the season in Saturday's win over DePaul. Coach
Paul Snape only played 12 players, 10 of which went the 110-minute distance.
Butler returns to action Saturday night, hosting Villanova at 7 p.m. The match is part of Homecoming Weekend on the Butler campus.
